Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
This page has an administrative backlog that requires the attention of willing administrators. Please replace this notice with {{no admin backlog}} when the backlog is cleared. |
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: Repeated introduction of promotional links. Recent examples: [1][2][3][4][5][6][7] ☆ Bri (talk) 19:41, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 1 year, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Ymblanter (talk) 22:39, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
- Automated comment: @Ymblanter: One or more pages in this request have not been protected.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 23:00, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
Permanent template protection: High-risk template. New CSD template for existing sub-criterion. ToThAc (talk) 23:57, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: High level of IP vandalism. Some protection should be added till the next presidential elections happens or till the next president gets elected so till May 2025. AK (talk) 02:13, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Ip editors kept on adding unsourced content. Cassiopeia talk 03:46, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – User keeps replacing "is" with "was" without a reason. FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 04:36, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 05:17, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- Automated comment: A request for protection/unprotection for one or more pages in this request was recently made, and was denied at some point within the last 8 days.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 05:32, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Almost immediately after the last page protection period ended, the vandalism of this page began again from several different IPs, adding clearly fake movies that are non-sensical like "Mohamed the Movie". Last protection period was for a month, so I'm requesting indefinite protection this time. λ NegativeMP1 05:37, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Niasoh ❯❯❯ Wanna chat? 05:51, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: High level of IP vandalism. Previous protection was for three months. I think longer protection would be in order. — Chrisahn (talk) 07:16, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: User:Hermes_Express. There is a high level of vandalism by the user. The user reverts several changes even after several warnings. The user gives unsourced and low-quality citations and removes several resources aiming to propagate misinformation. The user also adds sources that aren't related to the article. The user keeps changing the page even after several warnings. Adrikshit (talk) 07:18, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Page was vandalised several times by User:Hermes_Express to propagate misinformation. Several changes were reverted by the user. Adrikshit (talk) 07:20, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: IP-hopping vandal. Previous protection was for a week. I think longer protection would be in order. — Chrisahn (talk) 07:22, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: IP-hopping vandal. Other pages affected by this vandal have been protected for a week or so, vandal returns as soon as protection expires. Maybe longer protection would help. — Chrisahn (talk) 07:26, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

- @Chrisahn - The above 4 requests (Tom Morello, Slash (musician), Zakk Wylde discography, Zakk Wylde) appear to be about removing the word "best" or adding the word "featured". Can you more fully explain the issue, or is this merely edit-warring? - jc37 08:55, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- It's a long-term IP-hopping vandal, messing with various stuff. Currently 75.127.12.181. Previous IPs (among others): 103.152.255.235, 190.90.160.164, 130.195.216.22. I think it's a disgruntled blocked user, possibly User:TyMega, who is now trolling these pages. — Chrisahn (talk) 09:05, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: They are literally removing content with references ShrimanBhakt (talk) 08:21, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: History of the page being vandalised with rumours and slander directed at a local family, sourced from low quality tabloids who over time have retracted their "stories" or heavily edited them. This detracts from the pages focus being on the house and grounds. SummersRising (talk) 09:05, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Lectonar (talk) 09:54, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Already pending changes protected, but IPs and new accounts are contributing nothing but vandalism, which often happens several times a day. Entranced98 (talk) 09:34, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: vandalising article even after warning Adrikshit (talk) 10:15, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Requesting temporary semi-protection due to recent IP vandalism over the past few days Reconrabbit 12:11, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Multiple editors introducing NPOV violations and editing disruptively. Day Creature (talk) 12:51, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- I think indefinite semi-protection would make sense. The page attracts a lot of silliness by wrestling fans. It had been protected for two days half a year ago. Since the page became unprotected, there has been about one edit per day on average, but I estimate that only 10% of the edits were useful. The rest was vandalism and cleanup. That's a waste of our time. — Chrisahn (talk) 14:41, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Edit-waring from different sides of the political spectrum and from IP and registered users. Sushidude21! (talk) 12:57, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Reason: High level of anonymous IP deletion of information Remember (talk) 13:59, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. DoebLoggs (talk) 14:27, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – People from various IPs have been arguing against Baalbek being a Hezbollah stronghold without providing any counter-sources to back up their claims. It's been going on for a while now... - OpalYosutebito (talk) 14:33, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Continued socking/block evasion, less than 2 days after the page was last unprotected. Loafiewa (talk) 14:52, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Persistent sockpuppetry by User:Legende Legende Legende, see since 14:20, 10 November 2024, see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Legende Legende Legende. Alith Anar 15:02, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Persistent unsourced additions by IPs and new accounts since 12:34, 8 January 2025. Alith Anar 15:19, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Plasticwonder (talk) 15:28, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: The page was protected due to BLP, and is still protected for that reason despite Myners dying in 2022. If the page is to stay protected, the protection reason should at least be changed. 100.7.34.111 (talk) 12:14, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
