Controversy Section?
[edit]There are a handful of relevent incidents at American University including hazing, strikes, and sexual harassment allegations going uninvestigated. There are, of course, a laundry list of further articles that are worth linking, but I wanted to hear opinions about adding a controversy section. A couple of these articles focus on student actions specifically, and not that of the University, however, many focus on the university themselves.
Some examples:
- 'Change can’t wait’: Sunrise Movement demands Green New Deal at campus rally
- Forced Removal of Student Prompts Protest
- American University boosts patrols after report of sexual assault in dorm
- Obscene Phone Calls Are Traced to AU President
- American University Staff Begins Strike Over Equitable Pay
- F.B.I. Helping American University Investigate Bananas Found Hanging From Nooses
- Student Sues American University over Unlawful Use of Force, Seizure and Institutionalization by University Police Motivated by Racism and Ableism
- Law student didn't harass classmate in abortion discussion, probe finds
- American University Expels Students Linked to Underground Fraternity
- Why Russian Spies Really Like American Universities
- American University hit with federal complaint over 'persistent' antisemitism

- I recommend that you first try to work this information, assuming that it meets WP:DUE, into the existing history section where it can be contextualized. ElKevbo (talk) 22:46, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
More Notable Alumni
[edit]I know it's important to avoid bloating this page into crazy proportions, but I think it may be worth adding the following folks. I'm sure I missed a couple, but this emphasizes that perhaps it's worth breaking the "notable alumni" section into occupational field? The number of politicians/US Representatives who come out of AU's undergrad or graduate programs is substantial enough to support it.
